Frank, I would like to ask your opinion please as you seem very wise: what do you think about my habit of referring to small, inanimate, patently genderless objects as 'boys'? Like small books are boys to me. Is this sexist?

  • It seems weird to me to call books boys. Books are like cats in that they have souls.

  • Thank you, Frank. That seems like a very sensible answer.

Okay, fair, but I should clarify that by calling cats “boy” I meant calling them “boy cats”

Does that mean boys don’t have souls? And books and cats do?
